How Our Swim Levels Work

Our 11 SwimSure™ levels include 100+ age-appropriate milestones that guide your child’s progress in the water.

Each level builds water safety and swim skills through proven teaching methods that keep kids engaged while making steady progress.

Bathtime Babies is free all summer long

Bathtime Babies

Age: 2-5 Months


Adult Participation: Yes

Class Ratio: 10:1


Class Length: 30 mins

Our Bathtime Babies class is the perfect first step to introduce infants to the water.

Prerequisites: None

Class Goal:

  • Water comfort

  • Bonding with parent

  • Go underwater for 5-7 seconds

  • Assisted backfloat

  • Assisted rollover

  • Safety skills

Age: 16-35 Months

Adult Participation: Yes

Prerequisites: None

Class Goal:

  • Go underwater and swim for 8-10 sec.
  • Assisted safety skill (Jump-Turn-Swim or Roll-to-Backfloat)
  • Independently stand and walk in the water
  • Assisted rollover

Age: 24-35 Months

Adult Participation: Parent on deck

Class Ratio: 4:1

Prerequisites: Completion of Level 1B skills

Class Goal:

  • Kick 10′ independently
  • Backfloat independently (10 seconds)
  • Independent rollover
  • Independent JTS
  • Maintain 8-10 seconds breath control

Preschool

Age: 3 Years


Adult Participation: No

Class Ratio: 4:1


Class Length: 30 mins

Prerequisites: None

Class Goal:

  • Comfort/Bonding
  • Go underwater for 8-10 sec.
  • Kick independently, 5’
  • Independent glide
  • Backfloat independently, 10 sec.
  • Independent rollover
  • Independent safety skill (Jump-Turn-Swim or Roll-to-Backfloat)

Prerequisites:

  • Completion of Level 1B or Level 3 skills

 

Class Goal:

  • Independent face-in kick with kickboard, 10’
  • Independent back kick with kickboard, 10’
  • Assisted underwater paddles
  • Assisted rollover breath
  • Independent safety skill (Jump-Turn-Swim or Roll-to-Backfloat)

Prerequisites:

  • Completion of Level 4 skills

Class Goal:

  • Independent face-in streamline kick, 12’
  • Independent back kick, 12’
  • Independent underwater paddles
  • Independent rollover breath
  • Independent safety skill (Jump-Turn-Swim and Roll-to-Backfloat)
  • Assisted elementary backstroke

Kids

Age: 4+ Years

Class Ratio: 4:1


Class Length: 30 mins

  • Completion of Level 6 skills

 

Class Goal:

  • Independent face-in streamline kick, 12’

  • Independent streamline back kick, 12’

  • Assisted side kick

  • Independent underwater paddles

  • Independent rollover breath

  • Independent safety skill (Jump-Turn-Swim and Roll-to-Backfloat)

Prerequisites:

  • Completion of Level 7 skills

 

Class Goal:

  • Independent side kick with breath, 15’
  • Independent freestyle arms with side breath, 15’
  • Independent elementary backstroke, 15’
  • Independent Jump-Turn-Swim
  • Independent treading water, 30 sec.

Prerequisites:

  • Completion of Level 8 skills

 

Class Goal:

  • Independent unilateral freestyle, 20’
  • Independent bilateral freestyle, 20’
  • Independent backstroke, 20’
  • Independent side kick on back
  • Independent treading water, 45 sec.
  • Proper starts and finishes

Advanced

Age: 5+ Years


Adult Participation: No

Class Ratio: 4:1*

Class Length: 30 mins*

Class Goal:

  • Independent competitive freestyle
  • Independent competitive backstroke

Class Goal:

  • Independent competitive butterfly
  • Independent competitive breaststroke
  • Independent competitive freestyle

Prerequisites: Completion of Level 11 skills

Class Goals:

  • Refine technique in all strokes
